We will do a simple suede leather binding in addition to a 2-3 board structure. This is an interesting technique that doesn’t require fancy equipment and is a versatile technique that works on all kinds of books providing lots of possibilities for design and use of colored paper, leather, fabric or other material. Students will learn how to sew a book, round it, cut the boards and put the binding together whether they use leather or paper or fabric (smooth and rather thin fabric like cotton). This technique can also be used for books or photo albums.
If time allows Monique will show some onlay techniques and do some design on the books.
